The night vigil at Christ the King Church in Burlington is for reparation to the Hearts of Jesus and Mary for our own sins and those of the whole world. The vigil begins with First Friday/All Saints Mass at 5:30 pm, and ends late that night with First Saturday/All Souls Mass at midnight, November 2. The evening will offer the Sacrament of Reconciliation with visiting priests, a procession with Exposition and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, praying all four Mysteries of the Rosary, blessing of the sick, moments of prayer and reflection, songs and hymns of praise, and quiet time for individual prayer. In addition, Barb Ernster from the World Apostolate of Fatima, will give a short talk. “Our Lady says that prayer can stay the hand of God!”
This Mass at the Cathedral of St. Joseph will have softer lighting, calm music, communal prayers recited at a slightly slower pace, and an ASL interpreter (if available). Bishop John McDermott will celebrate Mass. We invite all individuals with intellectual or physical disabilities and their families and caregivers to attend. This Mass encourages a welcoming stigma-free environment and accommodations to help reduce over-stimulation and sensory overload. Many people can benefit from a less stimulating environment, including those with sensory processing challenges, autism, Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD or ADHD), Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), anxiety, physical, intellectual and developmental disabilities, and adults with Dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease. Families are encouraged to bring any regulation tools (noise reduction items, quiet fidgets, flexible seating items, weighted objects, etc.) that can support focused attention and provide comfort to a person so he can feel safe in his environment.
If are you planning to attend and you are able to, please consider parking off-site to allow those with mobility challenges to park in the Cathedral lot. Mass will be followed by a reception in the Parish Hall. For more information, please contact Eileen Haupt, Respect Life Coordinator, at [email protected] or 802-658-6110, ext. 120.
St. John Vianney Parish invites the faithful to a walk through Resurrection Park Cemetery, accompanied by words from prominent saints, with Eucharistic Adoration and Confessions following the tour. The cemetery walk is Saturday, October 26 at 6:45 PM at the parish center, church, and adjacent cemetery.
Classes start Sunday, October 27 after the 10:00 AM Sunday Mass. Students will gather at the front of the church near the altar. Classes are open to adults who would like to receive sacraments they lack, such as Confirmation, and to grownups who are interested in being received into the Catholic Church. For more information or wish to register, please contact Msgr. Peter Routhier at the Parish Office or Mrs. Dorothy Barewicz at 658-5387. We look forward to meeting you! “Come and See”.
