Msgr. Routhier will celebrate the daily Mass at Mt. Calvary Cemetery Tuesday, July 4 at 9:00 AM. If it rains, the Mass will move to the Cathedral downstairs chapel. There is no 12:05 PM Mass at the chapel on July 4.
The parish of the Cathedral of St. Joseph will celebrate the anniversary Saturday and Sunday, June 24 and 25. At weekend Masses on those dates, there will be special Scripture readings. The festivities continue with a parish picnic after the Saturday 4:00 PM Mass, and a Coffee Hour after the Sunday, 10:00 AM Mass.
The Cathedral now offers both the Sacred Body and the Precious Blood of Christ at Holy Communion. Monsignor Routhier reminds us that laity must drink from the cup; we are forbidden to dip the Host into the Precious Blood and consume it in this manner, also called intinction.
The Vermont Right to Life Committee will celebrate the first anniversary of the overturning of the Supreme Court decision making abortion legal with a party on the Vermont Statehouse lawn Saturday, June 24 from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM. Please bring your own picnic and chairs. VRLC promises speakers, prizes, exhibits, games, and music.
Eucharistic Adoration will take place in the downstairs chapel after the midday Mass. We will recite the Rosary and the Litany of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
Please join Msgr. John McDermott, Vicar General, for the Sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary at 11:30 AM at the Cathedral, as our local part in the annual Worldwide Rosary Rally. This yearly prayer time is offered for priests. We will receive the Rosary from the Rosary Shrine in Haverstock Hill, London, England, and pass it on to St. Francis Xavier Parish in Phoenix, Arizona. The rally will be livestreamed from the Cathedral at 11:30 AM, and broadcast over Our Lady of Perpetual Help Radio, WRXJ, 105.5 FM in Winooski. You may also pray on your own, alone or with a group. After the Rosary Rally, Msgr. Routhier will celebrate the 12:95 PM Mass in the lower chapel, followed by Eucharistic Adoration with the Rosary and the Litany of the Sacred Heart.
